Hi everybody

I have been wondering about this seakayak that I saw in Seakayaker
magazine issue december 2002 page 48 (a yellow one)
The name appears to be "Forager" and it seems to belong to Doug Alderson
Havent found anything on the internet about it

does any one have a clue about this boat, guys like Matt Broze would be
likely to know about it.

appreciate any info

Best regards

Snorri

Doug Alderson made the kayak in his North Saanich workshop, here on
Vancouver Island. It's made from door-skin plywood, sized to his own
dimensional requirements, with an epoxy/cloth covering and marine enamel
paints. Doug did some time in his pre-professional vocational days as a boat
builder, before he went on to become a shop teacher (woodworking, etc.). It
was about his third design. It shares some similarities with Duane's latest
plywood design, the Point Bennett (from what I can tell). Doug and I have
spent way too many miles on the west coast discussing the minutia of deck
rigging design options, which I believe came to full expression in his SK
article. Doug is an exceptional paddler/waterman/coach/writer and
do-it-yourselfer.

Doug,

I was curious about the Forager too, so I was glad to see your response. Thanks for the info.

Speaking about my Point Bennett design, I am in the process of building another one to help keep me busy during the winter (building is much better than watching TV). The design has been performing awesomely. As I like to joke with my friends, the evolution of the sea kayak has reached it's peak with the Point Bennett.

As I announced before, the plans and directions for building the Point Bennett are shared online at: http://www.rollordrown.com/kayak/index.html .

Is Doug Alderson sharing his design or keeping it close to his chest?
