subject: [Paddlewise] Thermarest repair pain

I've fixed tiny puncture at the black (nylon) side of 2004 Prolite4 Thermarest
I with a Seamgripper sealant without any patch. Larger T-shaped cut at the
orange (polyester) side was a pain, since I decided to use something more
"permanent". In the biggest camping store nearby they suggested Seamgripper
first :-), but as I kept on whining to give me something more "permanent",
they suggested Thermarest repair kit with patches of same colour and Hotbond
glue (put sachet in boiling water - remove - open - apply).

1-st discovery: Hotbond glue doesn't adhere to the matt (bottom) surface of
the patch. But it adheres to the textured (face) surface of this fabric, so
patch can be glued to the mattress upside down (face to face). It took me all
3 glue sachets to make sure of that.

2-nd discovery: patch of another colour had same adhesion :-), i.e. zero
adhesion to its bottom.

3-rd discovery: I went to buy another repair kit and glue that damn patch
upside-down. Alas: somebody must've got in the same trouble, because the
biggest store no longer has those "Thermarest" damn brand kits with Hotbond
glue, and even labels are removed from shelves.

Since the mattress is now covered with Hotbond "goo" (didn't I say that it
adhered to the face side of fabric? :-), and since Seamgripper worked on black
(nylon) fabric on another side of the mattress, I wonder how can I remove that
"goo", and is there any other glue for polyester, if Seamgripper won't work ,
- any suggestions?
