McMaster Carr is the secret.

http://www.mcmaster.com

I have enough material to build three housings...about $80.

My housing:

6.5 inch o-ring. No luck on any of it. I looked at 4 inch PVC, but my
Optura is such a tight fit, I can't imagine being able to build/install
camera controls.

Awesome link. I can indeed get everything I need at McMaster Carr. Your
housing is most impressive as well. Maybe I shouldn't have been so
quick to pull the trigger on that "store bought" unit after all. I'll
wager you put a lot of time into building that housing.

Hi John,

Probably 5-6 hours into the housing. The most time was in bending the
control rods to fit the power/record button.
