No, not a BC thing....I owned a 1962 TR Spitfire also, and you are right
about it being a piece of junk, but I LOVED it when it was running and have often
considered getting another one. It used to break just sitting in the driveway.
I bought it used "as is," and it needed a new clutch immediately. No problem
I thought, so I bought a Triumph service manual and was shocked to discover
that Step 1 to install a new clutch in a TR Spitfire is to remove the interior
of the vehicle! That's right, the seats, the carpet, and a good part of the
floor come out first because the transmission has to be removed "up" thru the
passenger compartment to get to the clutch. Anyway, just to keep this paddle
related, I don't think you can haul a kayak on the roof of a TR Spitfire because
it is a convertible and you would get a headache from the boat banging on top
of your head :)

I owned several old MGs: an MGA and a couple of MGBs. I also had a TR-
2, -3, 4A & 5. And a Spitfire. (What a piece of junk THAT was!)

I had a 944 for a while, but I traded it in on a house when I got
married. Not enough room for a bedroom set in the back of the
Porsche.

I was born in BC, and my sister still lives in Victoria.

Do you think that this sickness is a BC thing? Would it re-appear if
I moved back there? Scary thought!
