<<I've seen several kayaks cartopped on convertibles.>> I lash my Epic GP to the "roll bar" on my Honda Del Sol and strap the front to the base of the passenger seat. Since the Del Sol gets 40-44 MPG (without boat) and is the most fun to drive, I take it whenever I can. Not sure I would use a much heavier boat, but I did carry my surf kayak about 100 miles to VA beach that way.
