Our local club has been asked to participate in a large open water swim competition by acting as race course escorts and assisting swimmers in trouble. The course is a 3K and 5K triangular course held on a bay with typical 6"-1' of chop with larger boat wakes possible. I believe a number of our members are quite capable open water paddlers and have the ability to perform rescues if needed. I'd like to hear any advice from those of you that have had experience in races such as this.
