There's a great description and illustration of the Stimson method in the, "St. John Ambulance Official Wilderness First-Aid Guide". This is a great reference book. I keep it with me on all my paddles. It was published by McClelland and Stewart here in Canada. ISBN 0-7710-8250-9 I suspect there are other international publishers. I picked up my copy in a used book store here in Victoria. If there isn't a good used book store in your neighborhood I recommend Abebooks.com as an on line source for just about any book you might want.
