I am a recreational paddler and a member of a small paddling club in southwest Louisiana. We have been looking at the possibility of starting a couple of annual events in the area. One would be a race with a distance of around 10K to 15 miles on flat water. Any advice as to classes assigned, liability coverage or anything else we need to consider would be appreciated. Our club is more like a group with no official anything right now. Our main activity beside getting together for a paddle or camp-out is providing support on the swim course at local triathlons.
