<< Does anyone have any thoughts on the strengths and weaknesses of a cover like this? >> I have one of these: http://www.kayakcovers.com/ It's more expensive, but has held up well (not sure just how well Tyvek would). I store my kayak atop my pickup and travel full-time in an RV. So, the cover get lots of sun and wind. In three years, the only problem I've had was when I drove (off-road) under a broken branch, and put a 12" tear in the side. But $15 at an upholstery shop, near Spearfish, SD, fixed it back up. When (if) this one wears out, I'll get another just like it.
