Mark,

That's part of the reason that I chose a honda element the last time I went
car shopping... The yakima rack towers clip into bases that bolt directly
onto brackets in car the roof. I have had "the system" for a year and have
had no problems whatsoever. The racks are very easy to install and remove,
and have been much more solid than any of the clip on yakima systems I've
used on other cars. The tower bases are very low profile and have not
caused any problems when the racks are not installed. Racks with saddles
won't clear the garage door - so I do lots of install and remove, every time
I want to go paddle.

Or, are you looking at a different system??

Cheers, Mike
