I have been having a difficult time finding reviews for Valleys Q-boat, I realize it is relatively new, but has anyone tried one that could give me a little feedback? Should I buy this kayak it will be my first hard chined kayak so I am not sure what to expect. Does that description/use fit you or your intended use of the Q? When Valley came out with the Argonaut it was a bit of a bomb. Perhaps because it was high volume. It sat very high in the water and always looked unhappy. Used ones rapidly appeared on the market. The scaled down version called the Aquanaut did well. High volume boats for everyday use always make me pause a bit. http://www.valleyseakayaks.com/qboat.htm Jim et al *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - Any opinions or suggestions expressed here are solely those of the writer(s). I test paddled one a while ago and was disappointed. Most of the increased volume seems to be in the cockpit and I got the impression that I was paddling a bloated kayak (snake after eating a large meal is an apt analogy). I had mixed feelings about the handling. Caveat: my prior expectations were for a "wow" experience, due to the kayak's association with the Anas Acuta. However, others I know that test paddled this one had similar impressions. The conditions were calm with little wind, so I have no idea how it feels in interesting conditions. > Should I buy this kayak No one can answer that but you. I would recommend a test paddle and if you like the way it performs, rent it for a few days to try in realistic conditions. I've paddled kayaks I love that others hate and paddled what I thought was a lemon only to find a large number of enthusiasts who worship the same design. There is no objective way to evaluate kayaks that translates into a buy/don't buy recommendation. Here's a little information: _http://www.atlantickayaktours.com/pages/retail/boats/vcp/Q-Boat.shtml_ (http://www.atlantickayaktours.com/pages/retail/boats/vcp/Q-Boat.shtml) my advice is to find a dealer close to you and test paddle the boat for at least 1/2 day. sid *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - Any opinions or suggestions expressed here are solely those of the writer(s).
