My fourth day straight on the water. I'm gettin' tired. Too much fun to stop
though!

Nice video clips over the past several days. From what you have written
and what I have seen in the videos you are obviously very comfortable with
your self-rescue. Could you describe which technique you use? Could you
go over any pros/cons you experienced with any other techniques for
self-rescue. Did you have any "aha" moments where some small detail in
your technique made it work much easier. I am working on my self-rescue
with a different kayak and am not as comfortable with my abilities as I
have been with my past kayaks so I would appreciate any hints you might
have.

Hey Mark,

Love watching your kayaking videos, particularly since we're still in lock
down mode here in (not so) sunny Maine. Seven inches of snow last night,
would you believe. But better than the foot and a half last storm last week.
Anyway, I was curious about your video camera mount for your kayak. You are
getting some really great shots and I would love to know what you've rigged up
to get them. Also, does the video camera mount impact your rolling/rescue
abilities? Thanks,

Mark,
Thanks for the work you put into these reports. It's not just the fun of
watching and reading, but we - well I - get to see places where other
paddlers get to play, which broadens my horizons in a way.

I was at the first Canadian-presented slide show of Nigel Foster's Labrador
trip tonight here in Victoria. Nigel and Kristen were entertaining - and as
usual - humble and graceful. There were lots of polar bear stories. And
historical perspectives of Inuit peoples being displaced and relocated -
sad. Kind of ties in with the book Chuck mentioned the other day.

I noticed some new books at the kayak store where Nigel was giving his show.
One of them is written by a friend of mine, Alex Mathews about rough water
kayaking. It might be worth your while to take a gander at it. It's a little
more sea kayaked based than say the Tsunami Ranger books which are targeted
at a narrower audience, I think.

My surgeon said I'd be another 6 weeks before I can kayak again, so will
keep paddling vicariously for now.

Here's a fun place to kayak:
