Mark,

Regarding re-entry and roll with paddlefloat, or roll with float in
general, can you roll up slowly, stop at any point in the roll, say
stop at a balance brace position? Can you, in your boat, get out
fairly flat on the back deck?

Last spring, somewhat out of practice, my roll seemed a little
harder than I remembered. After a little while, I recognized that I
usually actually lift my butt out of the seat in order to get out flat on
the back deck. I can run back and forth between setup position
(fully over) and finish position (flat on rear deck) slowly in either
direction and stop the motion at any point all the way.

I use this routine to teach novices to roll. It allows them to carefully
study the coordination for the roll.
