Gordin's blog certainly gave a good examlpe. I'll have to play with this idea some more, as stated earlier. I formally liked my spare paddle on the rear deck, where I ran no less that three over-straps with individual Fastex buckles to keep the spare form shifting or dissapearing in heavy, open coat surf landings, etc. Made the spare halves harder to retrieve, obviously, especially if I had extra gear under the straps and on top of the spare paddle halves. Maybe the GP spare on the foredeck has merit too. A smaller blade area would be less likely to have the paddle rip of the deck, unlike two Euro paddle halves.
