Lots of variants here; don't think there is a standard. In most cases, a stainless flat washer and nut (typically it is a Nylock nut, having a bushing of nylon in contact with the threads inside the outer surface of the nut to prevent loosening) are sufficient to prevent significant leaks. Sometimes, I have seen neoprene-backed washers under the Nylock, which are really good if the hole the screw/bolt goes through is over-size. If I have a problem leak, I just hit the exposed hole at the base of the bolt/screw with a dab of Aquaseal and retighten over the AS. In a day or so, no leaks.
