Here some video from my surf day at San Onofre with Duane Strosaker and Ken
Fry on Tuesday. Had a great time. Afterwards we headed to Aqua Adventures in
San Diego to hear Jen Kleck's presentation on her trip to Scotland to try to
become the first BCU 5 star instructor in the US. Absolutely beautiful
kayaking country.

Mark,

Yes, those 180s are quite a departure from the turning radius of my QCC.
The boat I'm using is a Delfin, made by MayanSeas kayaks in Mexico. Rafael
Mier who builds them down there donated the boat to our club to be auctioned
off at our annual party and I was the winning bid.
It's 10' 5", big enough to hold a big guy like me(6' 250). It's my first
experience in this type of kayak, so it's been a blast
Here's a link to my friend Duane Strosaker testing it out in the bay.

  Hi Mark,

Replying kind of late, but I was wondering what kayak you were surfing in
the video? You made a couple of very quick 180's to catch a couple of those
waves. Looked like you got some of good rides.

Hey Mark... that little Delfin looks like a great ride. Have you had it over
in the BAR yet and if so how did it handle?

Welcome to the ranks of kayakers who have a "quiver" of boats to suit
different conditions. :)

Craig,

Yes, I'm in the process of trying to find room in my two car quiver for
kayaks AND cars.
I did paddle the Delfin to BAR, but from now on, I think it will just be a
surf boat. At 10' 5" with a completely flat hull, long paddles are a bit of
a chore and I think I like having more of a rounded chine in the surge
behind BAR. Perhaps I'll change my mind after more time in the boat. This
surfing thing seems like it can become quite addicting though!!!

Umm... Mark... cars belong in the garage. Kayaks belong in the dining room
where they can be kept clean and safe and be used as climbing toys for young
children who will one day grow up to be paddlers.
