When I get good service, I like to tell people about it. For about nine years I've had a Kestrel 3000 wind, temperature, and humidity instrument that usually sits in the breast pocket of my PFD. While packing for my last kayak trip I tried to turn it on but it was dead. I replaced the battery, but the Kestrel just cycled continuously through the display segments until I removed the battery. Time for repair or replacement. Last week I contacted the manufacturer through its Web site, got a return authorization, and sent it off. A few days later Nielsen-Kellerman, the manufacturer, sent me an e-mail saying it was out of warranty and too old to repair, but I could purchase a new model at a discount, which amounted to 30% off. The next day (yesterday) they followed up with a phone call, and I ordered a new one. I just received a notice that it has been shipped. This is exemplary service, especially for such an old product. Kudos to N-K.
