Kayakers,

I've been training hard this summer on my Greenland rolling and ropes skills. I've been practicing rolling once or twice a week for an hour or two at a time. Also, I replaced the weight lifting program that I did for ten years with doing the ropes twice a week. You can see videos of what I've accomplished so far at:

I'm inspired by the results of your training, especially by the rolling
out-take! Now I just need to pull the barn roof's rafter ends back in
(they've been spreading ominously due to a design fault) and get the rope
back up ...

Thanks for posting those video clips, Duane.

Ralph

Nice work Duane!
I too took Dubside's DVD up to the lake with me and enjoyed
practicing in warm fresh water. I did not master as many rolls as you
did though. I spent half an hour or so at it each day for 6 days, but
added 4 more rolls to my reprtoire. I also picked up the rolling rib
for my Feathercraft wisper and it made a big difference to layback rolls.

Mike,

Dubside's DVD's are really good. I've been watching them over and over and gain tips every time. It's funny how one type of roll leads to another. I had some days when things just clicked and I learned two rolls.

For the first time last night, I watched the timed roped moves that Dubside does, and he was rushing through them like crazy, as if in competition. He was working hard and had his heart rate way up. It made me realize just how much of a world class athlete he is.

The water down here in Southern California has been real warm this summer too, ranging from the up 60's to lower 70's, and making it nice for rolling practice.

  Duane
