Gotta love >it. That quote jumped out at me as well. The implication is that "Theresa" believed that the proper use of a PFD merely requires placing it in the kayak rather than wearing it. Furthermore, the article author excepted that the proper use of a PFD does not require that the user actually wear it, thus perpetuating the myth that a PFD is supposed to fall out of a kayak within reach of it's owner after a capsize. I find this ignorance regarding the proper usage of a PFD somewhat scary. I hope that someone more enlightened in the Corpus Christie area (I know there are at least a couple of Paddlewisers in that area) will submit an editorial response to the story.
