I'm glad so many of my usual paddling buddies as well as many more CKF folk
made it to TAKS. I like to think they came just to further MY enjoyment!!
Hanging out with everybody is one of the big draws to the event. Meeting
Turner Wilson and Harvey Golden and getting to chat with Mike Powers and all
the other participants was just a great time.

But I thought my buddy Duane deserves a special page and since I got a nice
sequence of him going through the surf, today's his day!

Mark,

The only wave I mistimed all weekend, and you had to catch the whole sequence in photos! The funny thing is that just before I launched, I asked one of the people who helped organize the instruction, Marcus Koenen, if they needed any help with the surf zone class. He said no, but if they did, I'd be the first one he'd think of. Then a minute later I got clobbered in the surf. I was actually a bit embarrassed.

By the way, thank you for the kind words. I believe the best part about kayaking is being with friends.

  Duane

Jeez... I thought you did it on purpose just to show everyone exactly how it
should be done. :)

Only the very best can demonstrate what not to do and live to tell the
tale. Just one more reason for me to want to grow up and be just like
Duane.
