To hear Mr. Spoonerbag talk, you'd think Nigel Dennis was on the
grassy knoll in Dallas
and Impex & Current Design are really fronts for the manufacture of
WMDs.

Can we just let this guy float happy out on the ebb toward the Doldrums?

Whatever the merits of sponsons, his rants are so obviously self-serving
that he's managed to alienate an entire industry; perhaps costing - by his
own actions - the lives of people who would have otherwise been attracted to
his product. Some people think that the only way to get their product to
sell is to denigrate all the others. Sponsons are proof-positive that this
attitude serves no good purpose. Many of the people he slanders tried to
help him when he first began trying to market sponsons. His descent into
verbal hooliganism has now created a climate in which no one wants to be
associated with him or his product.

Now if only politicians could learn from this.

As my Klepper has two really big sponsons, some 19 feet long, I have
some experience with sponsons, and sure they prevent the boat from sinking,
if waterfilled

As my Klepper has two really big sponsons, some 19 feet long, I have
some experience with sponsons, and sure they prevent the boat from
sinking, if waterfilled, but they are not a panacea that solves everything.

Tim's small ones are about as big as the inflatable PFD we have anchored to
our emergency pack, not much help when things get really bad!

PFDs on everyone is a much better life saver than two small floats on
a kayak, canoe, or bigger boat!

The picture of Tim's daughters paddling a canoe in dead calm waters
says nothing about their possible use in a normal emergency, which very
rarely happens in dead calm - rather the contrary. If they are supposed to
do anything really good, they should run like like those on a Klepper, from
bow to stern, on the outside of the hull.
