Kayakers I had a Greenland ropes party at my home on Saturday evening. I've only been doing the ropes since this summer and just recently felt confident enough with the basic moves to help others learn. An email was sent to our local club, California Kayak Friends, inviting people to come. I didn't know how the party was going to turn out, but it ended up being a lot of fun. Nice party! CKF seems to really have its act together with active and talented people. Thanks for the pics. :) Craig Jungers Moses Lake, WA On Nov 18, 2007 7:11 PM, Duane Strosaker <strosaker_at_yahoo.com> wrote: > Kayakers > > I had a Greenland ropes party at my home on Saturday evening. Duane: Thanks for sharing your pictures and notes. I fooled around with Dubside's ropes several years ago when he was in upper Michigan and ever since then, putting up my own rig has been on my list of things to do. Your posts have inspired me. Nice to see that none of your participants made the mistake I made of trying out the ropes in my shorts. Tom, Inspiring some people to do the ropes is what I had hoped to do. The ropes are a great workout for kayakers. My shoulders feel much more stable now than when I lifted weights, and the ropes are much more fun. I did have to ease into it, though. I just did the easy moves and stopped whenever I became tired. My muscles had to get used to it, as well as my skin. I still get occasional bruises, but the ropes don't hurt me as much as they used to. On some days when I'm not feeling good, I just take it easy and do only a few different moves. On days when I feel really good, I work on perfecting some of my harder moves and try learning new ones. It's really cool doing exercises developed by kayakers for kayakers hundreds of years ago.
