We bought a used Volvo XC a few years ago. It originated as a lease vehicle, driven in Seattle for two years. When we bought it in Iowa, we noted that it's alarm set up had a disarm mode for the motion sensors...and were told this was common for cars sold in areas where they might be taken onto ferries. Of course, now I know why our Volvo also came with sponsons. The XC is great in following seas, but not the best for lay-back rolls.... On a ferry (we were simply on-foot passengers) this summer out to Martha's Vineyard, it was a fairly rough, "barf barge" passage. The car deck sounded like a Vegas slot room on full tilt pay out....every locked car with engaged alarm system was hitting the jackpot. Great photos. You could use them as examples of a 'typical morning commute'. It might cut down on some of Seattle's growing problem with sprawl. *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - Any opinions or suggestions expressed here are solely those of the writer(s). Congratulations on the soon-to-arrive seal puppy. You have a wonderful adventure ahead of you. :) Nice blog, by the way. Well... the seal puppy project is really an adventure! BTW: it also occurred to me that for the next few years I will not be able to escape to seas for 3-week-700-kilometer expeditions! Luckily, our 'porcelain equipment' is not in heavy use. Ari On 25. marras 2007, at 18:24, Craig Jungers wrote: > Congratulations on the soon-to-arrive seal puppy.
