Without fanfare, or even knock on the door, I discovered in my garage today
a 220cm wooden crate redolent with the lingering fragrance of Big Island
plumeria. Judicious use of power tools liberated my new beefed up 215cm ONNO
paddle from inside. Patrick had warned me to have my demolition tools handy.

Also in my garage are two pieces of Sitka Spruce waiting to be laminated and
freed from anything superfluous to a Greenland Paddle.

I am torn over which I might use the most when both are at my beck and call
and I can tell their are others out there who vacillate between the two
worlds. Perhaps they will find this other paddle from my garage the perfect
blend of old and new:

When you mentioned "other paddles" from your garage I just assumed that your
garage is, like mine, full of various paddles. I can see now that I was
wrong, so very wrong. And it explains so much. LOL

In politics this is called flip - flopping. Hmmm sounds like a good rolling
technique.

Say, what do you call a minister with a hands roll? A Holy Roller of course.

I'll shut up now

Hi Mark,

Don't forget to do a high stroke on the E side and a low stroke on the G
side.

Rafael.

Mark,

Brilliant, absolutely brilliant! This is the most ingenious paddle I have
ever seen!
It should be able to do just about anything just as long as you are not too
picky about which side you do it on.
I suggest you get this breakthrough design patented before someone tries to
horn in on your invention.

Patrick

And I propose that the name for this new paddle should be a

GreenEuro Land Stick

It already needs a modification. The Euro blade should be replaced with
one with a symetrical blade.

Those that have used a GP, especially a storm paddle, are familiar with
a sliding stroke. Those that have used Euro paddles are familiar with
the maneuver that must be executed when you pick up your paddle and find
that it is "upside down". Those that use wing paddles have learned to
adapt their stroke as well.

This new paddle is no different. To use it effectively one must learn
the propeller stroke. After taking a stroke on one side, one must
rotate the blades such that the next stroke on the other side uses the
same blade type. This paddle also works well for tandem kayakers when
they're paddling 180 degrees out of sync.
