Tests made by the US Navy have proved that slow-charging NiCads
is really bad, and they should be empty when charging (if not you should
cycle them once)!

Robbe Infinity (in the US sold as Aveox) and Litco Alpha 4 (which you have
to pre-order, on the days they are on the market - just a few days per
year) are two classic chargers (the Infinity having gone through many
upgrades through the years).

Naturally I have an Infinity, as well as a Sirius Smart Charger, the latter
better suitable for smaller, more delicate, cells, and smaller packs!

The latest addition to my range is a Swalllow charger, a French unit that
can charge, discharge, and cycle, just about anything, SLAs, NiCads,
NiMHs and LiPos.

My old Infinity can't handle SLAs, nor LiPos (which weren't invented in
those heady flying days in the latter part of the 20'th century), but it
can handle really big packs (twice as big as the Swallow). More
cumbersome than the Swallow, being much bigger, which makes it less
portable!
