Warning to those thinking about paddling in Alaska this summer. The company
who publishes the majority of the tide books in Southeast Alaska has
discovered a major series of errors in their 2008 tide books. The tide books
are sold as advertising to various business such as the Chiropractic office my
wife works for. The explanation for the error is that on the days when there
are three tide changes as opposed to four the computer got confused and set
the wrong typeface. (In these tide book PM tides are in bold and AM tides are
not.) Hence some AM tides are labeled as PM and vice versa.
The first error occurred on January 7th and was noticed quickly by
mariners.
The company does not plan to reissue new books but instead have published
on their web site the corrections. www.tidebooks.com
The Sitka tides had the most errors so paddler be ware.

As Dylan sang "Oh the tides they are a changing"
Funny how we hear what we want to here.
