We all know what *my* wife thinks > about getting another kayak. > > Craig Jungers > Fingers crossed for Doug in ... > Moses Lake, WA Well, the authorized seller followed Craiglist protocol and showed the Anas in order of inquiry. The seller phoned me just before the fist buyer was to arrive, which was really kind of her. I certainly would have not pursued a sale if I'd felt suspicious. As it turned out the kayak must have sold as there was no more contact. I would have driven down this weekend to investigate and pick it up, and scouted out Fort Canby to assess the C/River Bar. Just as well as I didn't get the cute Acuta; I'll just have to build, finally, my own chine-hulled kayak. That way, I keep the weight down (over an alternative F/G Anas Acuta), get the anthropomorphic more attuned, and can wrap the sucker in epoxy and carbon/glass combo's. A S&G is less S&M than strip built, fits in better with available time frames, and gets me on the water for less. Well, less without the Kari-Tec Hydro skeg my wife says I can order for it for my 50th birthday in Feb. I'm also ordering a Gath black visored helmet to go with my black drysuit, so you can guess what colour the S&G will be: Doug goes Goth at 50. So, hopefully over the next year, you might see a dark, diaphanous Igdlorssuit-like silhouette emerging from the shadowy fog shrouded edges of Vancouver Island's coastal haunts if your out on the water. Apparently, my wife wants the cherry bedroom furniture I started 10 years ago finished first. Not a bad deal, really. A Nordkapp rebuild/remake would be over-the-top for me at this point in my life - and life does melt away quickly into the sunset, though there's always mothershipping to avail those golden years. :-) Doug Lloyd *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - Any opinions or suggestions expressed here are solely those of the writer(s).
