Getting clobbered by an eagle ray seems to be the latest, but not the only danger on the water. Steve Irwin fell victim to a sting ray. Manta ray also jump, and they're much bigger. People in Australia get stung by box jellyfish and die. Then there are the scorpion fish, stone fish, lion fish, and sea snakes, all of which have deadly venom. Anglers have been impaled by sailfish and marlin. Besides the obvious threat of shark attack, whales have been known to capsize and sink boats of various types. You can witness several such incidents on YouTube. Even a ten pound coho salmon can leap out of the water and knock you senseless. But your biggest danger while boating is being assailed by tasteless humor from your mates. This has led to more boating mishaps than all other causes combined.
