Dear Friends Here there is the link to our 2nd. Kayak race to honor kayaker fathers on their day. This time it was turn to Luis Sierra and Jose Rivera. Luis is a promoter of kayak racing and has been involved in the National Standards, educated his son to become a champion in Slalom and WW kayaking. Luis also paddles a canoe kayak converted canoe on his knees, according to the traditional Olympic class. Jose Rivera is the enthusiastic father of my co-organizer colleague and the cook, or better said gourmet in our expeditions. He does not paddle but gives us as much happiness. We had 36 competitors, three in doubles. Following CKF and Paddlewise suggestions we divided the boats in three categories Sea Kayak, Fast Sea Kayak and Very fast Sea Kayak, using the l/w ratio. We also made divisions by age. So, as you may guess almost everybody got a trophy and happiness was all around. http://outdoors.webshots.com/album/563977906HwPesT http://community.webshots.com/user/cayucochief We had a great competition and kayakers from far cities in the country showed up to compete and to reinforce previous friendship links from previous expeditions. Fastest competitor made 16.9 km in 1 55' 27", moving against low to medium tidal incoming current.
