As of this morning Kayak For a Cure Victoria and Kayak For a Cure Vancouver have raised a combined total of just over $15,000.00...and we still have time to increase the totals before the August 10th and August 17th paddles :-) If you've not already done so, go to www.Kayakforacure.ca click on either Victoria or Vancouver and support a paddler - you may even recognise a few of the names. All donations recieved go to the Canadian Cancer Society. It's not too late to sign up as a paddler/fundraiser - both events have a few spaces remaining. It's worth noting that Doug Lloyd has a spot on the website for Victoria. If you've enjoyed his posts or benefited from his advice and posts this would be a good time to donate some money to a good cause in his name. I just did and so did Pam even though we're not Canadians, eh? https://www.kintera.org/faf/donorReg/donorPledge.asp?ievent=222680&lis=1&kntae222680=9EA64B40D98A477B9D41159B43471012&supId=226381353 Craig Jungers Moses Lake, WA On Mon, Aug 4, 2008 at 10:04 AM, Don Lowther <dlowther_at_shaw.ca> wrote: > As of this morning Kayak For a Cure Victoria and Kayak For a Cure Vancouver > have raised a combined total of just over $15,000.00...and we still have > time to increase the totals before the August 10th and August 17th paddles :-) > > If you've not already done so, go to www.Kayakforacure.ca click on either > Victoria or Vancouver and support a paddler - you may even recognise a few > of the names. Thanks Craig. There were four paddlers on the Victoria event this morning with no dollars beside their names, so I donated $25.00 a piece myself online, which will bring the organizer's goal of $10,000.00 to that mark (was $9,9000.00 this morning). Perhaps good karma for me: I got a call this afternoon from Doug Alderson (bought his S&G a while back), he had a 1984 Nordkapp HM in awesome shape with the stern cut off for a rudder. So I bought if for $900.00, but on the PAYPP (pay as you paddle plan). I'll have a working, light Nordkapp for the cancer-cure event Sunday. A better temporary boat for me than the S&G. I now have eight kayak in the yard. I am also taking the Atlantis Spartan VI prototype out for a day to test and give feedback this weekend. Thanks for your support Craig.
