So many beaches are backed by steep cliffs and rich people's houses now that pristine beaches useful only for launching kayaks or camping or freeways are becoming difficult to find. On a more serious note... I quit a perfectly good job with the Washington State Highway Department (as it was then known) when I realized that the swamp I was running a transit line through - which was full of diverse life - was slated to become an interchange on the I-405/520 freeway system. This was in 1965. So I got myself another job. With CIA. LOL.
