I can't help but note that any competent San Francisco Bay Area
paddler
would have looked at the tide charts for this weekend and
decided that this
was exactly the wrong weekend to paddle out the gate
and around Point
Bonita. Tide flowing into the Bay until 12:45 pm,
huge full moon ebb (max 6
knots) flowing out of the Bay in the
afternoon. Why would you ever head out
the Gate in the morning and
return in the afternoon this past weekend?

Heck, as a newish paddler who
hasn't yet gone out the gate, I surely wouldn't have attempted it this
weekend. But I never go paddling w/o consulting the tide chart.
