No idea of the type of kayak, the skills of the paddler, the weather, etc. The guy did at least one thing right when he called home to tell his wife when he was leaving that offshore island. Which, from the looks of it on Google Earth, is not the sort of paddler a beginner would want to undertake. Especially solo. Hope he's ok.
