We've had a few discussions about SPOT on this list. One of the problems with this device is that you don't know if a message is delivered. Another problem is the possibility of sending a false alarm. With this in mind, what general instructions have you given to your "SPOT" emergency contacts? In my case, the majority of my paddling is day-tripping. This limits coverable distance.
