The combination of charts and google maps gave me a few possible answers. According to this link (http://www.britishcolumbia.com/parks/?id=478) there is a parking lot near Smuggler Cove Provincial Park and a 1.3 km hike into the marine park itself over which I presume you'd have to haul your kayaks and gear. If you want to paddle over then you might try the marina just NW of the Park at Secret Cove ( http://www.secretcovemarina.com/ ) or contact them and perhaps they'll have a better idea. It looks like the paddle from that marina to Smuggler Cove is an easy one. Another option would be to find a launching spot at Half Moon Bay which would mean paddling through the passage between South Thormanby Island and the little isthmus the park is on. The chart indicates a max current of 3kn on the flood tide through this passage but that might not be corrrect; caveat paddler. I suspect that someone will have a better idea but it was fun checking it out. This looks like a terrific area to paddle, however. > (Alberta, Canada - where our lake has mysteriously turned into a 120 km > long ice cube for the last few months) > Amazingly enough, the lake I live next to (Moses Lake about 150 east of Seattle) had also turned into a large ice cube but then, just as mysteriously, suddenly reconfigured itself into water. The paddling is better but the gathering of cheap ice for cocktails has been completely ruined.
