There are lots of things that restricts a design of developing,
not least the want of fine-tuning a design, versus radical
new designs. while visiting Pakboats I saw both - both new
designs, and old ones getting an over-haul.

Don't think either is a bad thing - one establish new ground,
the other continues along the same path, with a few variations.
At the time of our visit (bit drunk, so spelling mistakes are
unavoidable) Mr Hoehn and Alv were working on new, better, models,
both those departing from those since long established PakCanoes,
and new Greenland-inspired kayaks.

Never actually liked hard-shells - too much like a sailboat for my
liking - have owned hars-shell, but never actually being on on
terms with my Seahawk!

You put your foot down - this is how I'd like my boat to be -
and then try to make it a running commercial business - not
an easy task!

For instance we like a boat with nil drift (thus love our leeboard,
no matter if we carry a sail, or not), and the small mizzen, that
makes the boat point upwind, no matter what happens. Thus it was a
big scare paddling a Pakcanoe 170, as to us, it went as easily
sideways, as forward!

Their Greenland-style kayas were an entirely different matter -
much more like a Klepper, but with minimal freeboard! If I had
the money, I'd buy one yesterday!

Tord,

PS Bit dizzy, after having a bottle of real Champagne - and some wine,
and gin, celebrating getting the flat back in order, after changing all
Windows, doors, and bedroom appliances (now with a Samsung Blu-Ray player.
Sony stereo amplifier, and a 32" Panasonic TV! - superb!). The dust after
the window-switching was amazing, even if one of the guys was from L.A.!
Just re-installing our 7.1 system (JVC 37" TV, Denon reciever, Dali &
JBL speakers, Playstation 3, for Blu-Ray) in our living room took its time!
Pleased as punch, just now! Cheers! G'Night!
