Saturday a tugboat on the north end of Lake Washington sank, spilling about 50 gallons of fuel. There were not too many details about it and it wasn't until today that I could go check it out (since this is where I often paddle anyway). Yesterday they had already floated it, so there wasn't much to see. Nevertheless, here is a picture: http://lh6.ggpht.com/_EnDNrdvpgbQ/SezSJ_aaKNI/AAAAAAAABrs/EzHJy2VlxbQ/ s720/tugboat042009.jpg I don't know that 50 gal. of fuel would have been noticed in this little harbor. A lot of harbors are somewhat of a green nightmare: http://lh6.ggpht.com/_EnDNrdvpgbQ/SezSF7P6gfI/AAAAAAAABrc/QXNvEApmotw/ s720/docks.jpg And while I am in show and tell mode, let me say that there is something inherently wrong about spending money to put a string and a float on glasses. Quick & dirty works! http://lh3.ggpht.com/_EnDNrdvpgbQ/SezSIVWJJbI/AAAAAAAABrk/lYo1bgcBTEM/ s720/glassesfloat.jpg Paul Montgomery paul_at_paddleandoar.com http://paddleandoar.com *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - Any opinions or suggestions expressed here are solely those of the writer(s).
