Essentially, a marine capable VHF with a Citizen's Band (CB) feature. A great way to communicate within a large group of kayakers -- as long as you watch which buttons you're pushing. Standard Horizon has one that also has AM, FM and aeronautical channels on it -- and, like many of these radios today -- it's "waterproof". Catch "All things considered on NPR on the return trip! When we talk about marine radios, we talk about standard VHF hand-held radios. We like them to be waterproof and prefer to have them live in a pocket on the life jacket. The ACA talks about having paddlers use VHS radios. Is this real, a typo, a failure to understand? What goes on here? I am told there really are VHS radios--are they waterproof--what are they compared with our VHF radios?
