Hi kayak friends, My music friends need your help. They are in a battle of the bands competition, and have survived the 50+ band level and are now in the final five. Voting is only this week. The winner gets flown to Ireland to play at a famous festival (among Irish music heads anyway) in County Down. What's this got to do with kayaking? Not much, except it was while kayak camping in the Everglades that I wanted to play some music. Some research on making a penny whistle out of PVC pipe so the salt water and sand wouldn't bother it also turned up Irish Traditional Music and the fact that there were people playing this music here in SW FL. Well, I made some whistles and learned some tunes from these fine people, and many of them have become good friends. Currently my friends are in first place!! But we expect a hard fight to stay in first. Others had a big push toward the end of the last round and passed "West Of Galway" near the end. Thank goodness that was a top five move on round. You can only vote once, but you can pass the word on to others you know by forwarding this e-mail. Voting only takes a minute. You do have to give your e-mail address and name because they only want each person to vote once. But they promise not to pester you with advertising if you check the box. So, do it now.
