I'm going to be in the Thousand Islands area of the St Lawrence River in June.
Has anyone paddled this area? Can you recommend a good rental outfit. I'd
like to get out for at least a day, maybe two.

If there's a must paddle area let me know? Lot's of current would be fun?
I'll be on the Canucklestan side of the border so renting around Gan would be
easy.

Thanks

Gordin

Hi Gordin,

A few years ago I paddled from Kingston to Ivy Lea (+/- 50km), a little
summary of which you can read here:
http://jpivovar.net/Gallery/STL05main.htm

There is a 1000 Islands water trail with good on-line documentation,
including links to local outfitters in Gan, here:
http://www.paddle1000.com/index.htm The route descriptions of "hazards"
might clue you in on where you want to head.

There's not lots of current around Gan, just barely noticeable. If you
go east of Ivy Lea the current picks up a bit in the narrows and there
is at least one low-head dam that provides a few challenges. Stay away
from the US side around Gan as that is the main shipping channel along
there and it is only annoying.

Have fun!
Jennifer

Thanks to everyone who helped out with my St. Lawrence request. Looks like
I'll do a day paddle out of Gan.
