[Paddlewise] surfing on the Jersey coast

I am going to New Jersey to visit a friend
and am looking for a good kayak surf spot
that does not have dumping surf, preferably
where the surf is quite a bit out from shore,
and an area that gets larger swells. The further
north along the Jersey coast the better, because
less driving is involved.
     Any ideas?
