With all that water racing its way to Lake Superior, Brian Koopman and I figured we ought to catch some of it on the way down on Thursday evening. Neither of us had been in a white water boat last year, and neither of us are spring chickens anymore (my sister gave me a helmet cam for my 50th, thus these videos), so we were a bit wobbly at first, but the sun was out (although it was just below freezing), so we had a terrific time. We ran down the McIntyre River in Thunder Bay (literally in town). I ran it in my boat, but Brian had to run much of it on foot after his boat got away on him. The hot tub at the end of the evening was a nice finale. I expect Brian will be on the river again this weekend, but I'm going to get in a final couple of days skiing, hopefully will better luck than last weekend - I skied over my thumb while crawling under a fallen tree, ending up with four stitches. My dragon boat and outrigger crews are itching at the bit. It will be a few weeks yet before we can head out, but spring is almost sprung, so here's to a great season on the water.
