We had our annual Christmas Eve morning surf session at San O the other day with about 15 attending. People were arriving before 7am, but many were still in their cars until I showed up with some wood for the fire ring!! Soon everyone was enjoying the warmth, food and company. The cold morning was keeping everyone on the beach instead of the water were a few brave SUPs dotted the line up. Also, one guy in a real surf kayak was owning the gentle break. He looked like he was having too much fun and finally convinced Duane and I to break the ice (just a figure of speech here in SoCal!!) Plenty of good rides were had despite some long waits, with a few bigger waves to make things interesting. I stopped early to try to get some photos from the shore, but it's a long way to the break at San O, so they're not the best. Later, we were all warmed by a bright sun and had a short music session from Steve, Barb and me. Lenora's children were also there and were dubbed the San O Brass for bringing their trumpets to play some Christmas tunes! Twas a fun morn!
