The father of modern Sea Kayaking has passed on. http://www.seakayakermag.com/blog/?p=932 He was kind enough to answer my letters decades ago! Forwarded by C. Wow, sorry to hear that. I had just been wondering how he was doing lately. His book was my first instruction to kayaking. I never had a class with him, but I've heard all the stories from my friends who did! Quite a personality. It's hard to believe. He was on Facebook just a few days ago. I'm very sad to hear about his passing. I handed him my wing paddle at the Port Townsend seminar several years ago so he could demonstrate several different styles of paddling. Back then wing paddles were new and unfamiliar to most paddlers. Somehow I thought he'd just go on forever. RIP.
