I have replaced my latex gaskets two different ways:

  - Trim and glue to the remaining stub as Kokatat says

  - Completely remove the old gasket with a not-too-hot iron

Both worked and held up fine.

Folks around here have been singing the praises of replacing latex gaskets
with neoprene (

Lasts nearly forever and quite dry, if you can find stretchy enough
neoprene. I couldn't find suitable neoprene and went back to latex because
I wanted to go paddling and stop sniffing glue....

Wouldn't that then leave the only connection to the Gore-Tex being the old seal? Wouldn't it be better to trim it down to the suit and glue the new seal over the old seal, but inside the suit?
