Strictly downwind, but durable and all made up. I have used it in my Greenland II folding double and like it for its simplicity and convenience. You could make a similar sail rig with maybe 50 feet of 1/4 inch line, a reshaped plastic tarp duct-taped to a collapsible booming stick (mast), and something glassed to the inside of your hull for the bottom of the mast. Might run you US$80 or less. Most yaks are pretty much restricted to downwind or maybe a broad reach, unless you cobble up a leeboard or add a keel. -- Dave Kruger Astoria, OR *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List Submissions: paddlewise_at_lists.intelenet.net Subscriptions: paddlewise-request_at_lists.intelenet.net Website: http://www.gasp-seakayak.net/paddlewise/ ***************************************************************************Received on Sat Jun 27 1998 - 16:03:35 PDT
