It hasn't changed that much.  It's still considered bad netiquette to
post private email messages publicly without the sender's permission.
I guess I'll have to add that to the PaddleWise intro for the new folks
to the internet.

It's not always intentional, I'm sure. When you're used to automatically
entering the Paddlewise address in reply to a reply to a Paddlewise
message, sometimes it's easy to overlook the fact that the thread has
turned into a private message.

I've also received private messages that were obviously intended for
Paddlewise.

A quick look at the headers will let you know who all is included in
the mailing.  It's always a good idea to check with the sender about
forwarding their message to the list before assuming it was intended
for the list.   If you are typing in the PaddleWise email address when
responding to a message, then you should be checking the headers to 
make sure the message was intended for the list.  Otherwise, use of 
automatic replies to "all" will only include the party or parties 
addressed by the sender.  

OTOH, when I send private email not intended for the entire list, I 
will usually preface it with a note stating "this is private email."
Just a little extra precaution :-)
