A question then is how can an instructor in a typical intro course drive home the importance of weather? ---------------- IMHO, all you can do is make people aware of such things as weather, wind, waves, lightning, hypothermia, clothing, first aid, etc. After stressing the importance and inter-relationship of some of these things provide a suggested method of how to learn more about each of the topics, including suggested reference material and reading lists.
