Aquameter makes a model called the Sailor II which has big, highly visible
numerals, and comes with a deckplate and hardware to mount to the deck (if
you have a flat, level spot).  If needed, you can fabricate a circular
plate to affix to your deck hardware (bungees) out of the endcap of a
4-inch black PVC water pipe (carve the underside to the deck contour), or
buy a factory version which Aquaterra sells (US$12, I think).

The Sailor II runs about US$40 to US$50, I think.
