Dave Kruger wrote: <Do I get any sympathy from those blessed with the solid version of water? Anybody got a cure for the rainy weather blues?> No, after all it's too warm for anything here. The snow is melted (no skiing) but the lakes are frozen (no paddling) and the temps are to be in the 40s (no hope). Based on the amount of rain you're getting, you can probably at least paddle down the street. :-) Larry Snow Minneapolis, MN Who's skied down the streets of Mpls. when the weather overdid it. *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List Submissions: paddlewise_at_lists.intelenet.net Subscriptions: paddlewise-request_at_lists.intelenet.net Website: http://www.gasp-seakayak.net/paddlewise/ ***************************************************************************

>> Anybody got a cure for the rainy weather blues ? Dave... Sometimes I just "sits and thinks", and sometimes I just "sits" !! Sorry 'bout the weather, man. We got highs this week in mid 70's and early morns are a brisk 40....Louisiana's finest !! I have a small neighborhood 2 acre "duck pond" at the far back corner of my place. I will usually paddle...well, sometimes I just sits in a boat...several afternoons a week after work. Yeah, we get our fair share of rain here too. Going for a day trip Saturday to check on the highwater out in D'Arbonne Basin....thousands of acres of backwater, just now beginning to go under. Have a good'un !! .......Peyton (Louisiana) ___________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail. >I can't wait for my next outing--I just hope that it's raining! > >Dan Hagen Ah, the power of positive brainwashing! Much like my cycling days: Repeat "I love hills" enough times and you may convince even yourself :-) Dave, a two word solution: small lakes. I paddled both days last weekend on Lake Union. Nice on Saturday, but Sunday was blowing 20 gusting 30, with intermittant rain. Managable with no current and fetch under 2 miles. Just a couple of moments during gusts when I thought "I'll be glad later I went out, but if I could start over, I'd be lazing on the couch." OK, you northerners... check out a trip I took to Gasparilla Island near Boca Grande, Florida on the Gulf of Mexico a couple of weeks ago. No comment about the photo qualities, please, it was, after all, merely a digital camera (but I was in an enclosed kayak, not a SOT - does that count?). http://www.cyberseas.com/beach.htm *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List Submissions: paddlewise_at_lists.intelenet.net Subscriptions: paddlewise-request_at_lists.intelenet.net Website: http://www.gasp-seakayak.net/paddlewise/ ***************************************************************************
Very nice... you'd never suspect those pics were taken with a digital. ;-) Karen Susan Watters wrote: > > OK, you northerners... check out a trip I took to Gasparilla Island near Boca > Grande, Florida on the Gulf of Mexico a couple of weeks ago. Ya see, the mountains 'round here are west of us and . . . well, nevermind! Seems like I recall the eastern parts being quite a bit dryer anyhow. Bye again! I have been surfing most weekends since November. Somewhere between the winter Pacific surf and the wind tunnel of Puget sound.
